National Autism Association - Northeast Ohio Chapter Services
Whom We Serve
NAA – NE Ohio serves families affected by autism in Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Lorain, Summit, Medina, and Portage counties.
NAA – NE Ohio operates autonomously from the national organization (NAA) in program implementation.
Services
Helping Hand Program: Grants have been provided to nearly 70 qualifying families in 2007-2008 to help children with autism access needed interventions. The grants have been given to families that reside in NAA – NE Ohio service area with priority given to low to moderate income families and to families with children ages 0 to 3.
Stay tuned for information about the 2009 Helping Hand program to be announced in September 2009!
Resource Linking Services: Technical assistance is provided by linking families to service providers (i.e. therapists, advocates, advisors, financial planners) and organizations (i.e. Autism Society of Ohio, ARC, Milestones, Educational advocacy groups, County Board of MRDD.)
NAA-NE Ohio collaborates with the aforementioned organizations and providers to augment rather than duplicate their services.
Financial Education Services: Quarterly workshops are provided to share information about available resources for funding autism related interventions (insurance, SSI, Medicaid, the Ohio Autism Scholarship, and service providers) and financial planning (taxes, estate, financial planning.)
Other Autism Workshops: Three biomedical information and support meetings have been provided in 2007 and 2008 with lectures by Dr. Phillip C. DeMio, MD, Cheryl Leuthauser, D.O., and Angela Shoemaker, Parent Liason at Dr. DeMio's offices. Stay tuned for future announcements regarding biomedical support groups and presentations.
